***WHY you may feel WORSE before you feel BETTER***
Have you ever started a program, a diet, a new training regime and felt WORSE than before?
It can be a disheartening to feel like you're working hard and correctly following the program that's meant to be making you feel healthy, only to start feeling sick, fatigued, nauseous and bloated.
This phenomenon can be termed a “healing crisis” or “detoxing.”
In order for your body to feel light, healthy, agile and energetic, you first need to get rid of the stuff weighing you down and clogging you up.
These include:
- toxins stored in your fat
- “bad” gut flora being starved out
- withdrawals from sugar, caffeine, alcohol
The way the body eliminates these is through detoxification, of which there are 3 phases. Phase 1, 2 and 3.
Phase 3 is HOW your body excretes waste, toxins and excess hormones from the body. Think, Pooping, sweating and breathing.
Because of this excretion process you may find your body doesn't feel so good on the onset, as it begins to get rid of the old to make way for the new, vibrant YOU.
It is also extremely important for this reason that you ensure your Phase 3 processes (Pooping, Sweating and Breathing) are done on a regular basis.
And by regular I meant daily.
If these wastes and toxins are not effectively secreted then the body can recirculate and reabsorb them via the gut. Causing even more issues and symptoms.
Common symptoms occur such as:
- bloating
- constipation
- diarrhoea
- headaches
- nauseous
- dizziness
- fatigue
These symptoms are often short lived and last no longer than a week in most cases. In the meantime ensure you are doing the following to help your body through the process:
Drink LOTS of water to flush things through, 3-4L is a good guide.
Rest well and often; sleep, meditate, epsom salt baths
Add good quality Himalayan sea salt to your dishes; this works to cleanse and hydrate the body
